MAPPING

Before UAVs, infrared cameras and airplanes were used to capture crop health. Today UVAs have substituted airplanes and now use higher quality methods of determining crop health. Pilot of the Countryside is able to capture crop health by using an RGB camera without the use of an infrared camera. Using Drone Deploy, Pilot of the Countryside is able to take an orthomosaic map of your field and convert it into a Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) map.

NDVI determines the health of your crops based on the color reflectivity of your plants and turns it into a plant health map. Areas of high health will show up as green, areas of moderate health will show up as yellow and areas of low health will be red when looking at your map. Corn operations can begin at the V5 stage and end at the VT stage. Soybean operations can begin when the plant is about mid-calf height and end prior to full maturity of the plant. Wheat operations can being when the plant has reached about a foot in height and end prior to full maturity of the plant. All mapping operations will be performed during the optimal mapping time of 10 am to 2 pm.
